Operation Opera, also known as Operation Babylon, was a surprise airstrike conducted by the Israeli Air Force on 7 June 1981, which destroyed an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor located 17 kilometres (11 miles) southeast of Baghdad, Iraq. The Israeli operation came after Iran's partially successful Operation Scorch Sword had caused minor damage to the same nuclear facility a year prior, with the damage having been subsequently repaired by French technicians. Operation Opera, and related Israeli government statements following it, established the Begin Doctrine, which explicitly stated the strike was not an anomaly, but instead "a precedent for every future government in Israel". Israel's counter-proliferation preventive strike added another dimension to its existing policy of deliberate ambiguity, as it related to the nuclear weapons capability of other states in the region.
The aircraft must take off from Ramat David, with the weapons that are already defined (according to the actual mission) and follow the route that is already determined. do not deviate more than 3mn from the center of the route!
After waypoint 2, you will already be in enemy territory, and you must fly low to avoid being detected by Iraqi radars. Respect the maximum altitudes of:
Between waypoint 3 and 4 Max: 1700ft
Between waypoint 5 and 6 Max: 3000ft
Any aircraft passing this safe altitude will be visible to enemy radar and Iraqi aircraft will be deployed.
After Waypoint 7 the F-18s should go up to distract the radars while the F-16s continue to complete the mission
Target 1 - Waypoint 8 - N 37°23'52" E 36° 1'51"
Target 2 - Waypoint 9 - N 37°23'55" E 36° 1'45"
Target 3 - Waypoint 10 - N 37°23'52" E 36° 1'39"
Target 4 - Waypoint 11 - N 37°23'47" E 36° 1'48"
After the confirmation of the 4 destroyed targets, the aircraft will be able to return in direct flight to WP 18, as the enemy forces will be aware of our presence and should try to intercept us.
Return can be high, to save as much fuel as possible!
We dont have much time, so each aircraft need to pick a correct factory.
WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR A SECOND PASS!
